Kevin's fight but he needs your help.

Kevin Fitzgerald is a quiet man from Rhode Island with a supportive wife, and 2 hard working sons, who has been living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) since adolescence.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease causes damage to the peripheral nerves (the nerves that transmit information from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body). CMT presents itself with muscle weakness in the arms, legs, hands and feet. Nearly all cases of this debilitating disease are inherited. Kevin’s late father suffered from it, as well.

There is no cure for CMT. Since childhood, Kevin has been utilizing physical and occupational therapies, worn custom orthopedic braces, and undergone orthopedic surgeries. Unfortunately, these only help in managing the disabling symptoms. Maintaining mobility, flexibility, and muscle strength is not achieved without great difficulty and perseverance.

In January 2022, at the recommendation of Dr. Lacava, Kevin visited the BioMed Center of New England, in Providence. The center offers BioRegulatory treatments and therapies not offered through traditional medicine. Since consulting with the Naturopathic Doctor, Marlane Bassett, Kevin has been receiving weekly ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) and BioImmune (Vitamin C) infusions, in addition to lymphatic, electro-magnetic, and oxygenated therapies.

Over the past 18 months Kevin, and his doctors, have noticed improvements after receiving the treatments but he still has a long road ahead. Although extremely beneficial to him, health insurances do not yet recognize naturopathic practices and therefore do not cover the costs of these treatments. Kevin is dedicated to this journey and with your help, he’ll be able to travel through it.

Unfortunately, the CMT wasn't the only disease process Kevin had to courageously take on. He contracted Lyme disease years ago which was not diagnosed in time to stop the damage to his whole body.

Kevin has struggled to get proper medical treatment for this but with the help of Biomed, Kevin has finally started to see some physical improvement. For those not familiar with the dangers of Lyme or tick borne illnesses, it can wreck havoc in the person's life. It can cause severe dizziness, lightheadedness, cardiac problems, difficulty regulating blood pressure and heart rate, whole body debilitating weakness, difficulty breathing and complete physical decline.

Kevin has experienced all of these at varying degrees throughout his past including mold toxins not associated with CMT but it worsened his CMT disease progression. Kevin's family including his late father helped him financially and emotionally to get through this but Kev needs more now to achieve victory over these tick borne diseases.
