Help Sally With Medical Expenses

Several months ago, we received the devastating news that my mom, Sally, was diagnosed with stage 1 triple negative breast cancer. She is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy which will be followed by a course of radiation. While the prognosis is positive, the path to healing has been and will continue to be challenging, both physically and emotionally, for many months to come.

If you know Sally at all, you will not be at all surprised that she strongly opposed the idea of a GoFundMe. Perhaps the only “advantage” of Mom being in the trenches is that we were finally able to twist her arm enough to agree. She is one of the toughest people I know and loves without reservation, making her an exceptional mom, grandmother and speech pathologist. She is the last person in the world to ask for anything but typically the first to give it. Thank goodness she is bringing all of that gumption and positivity to this challenge! The strength she continues to show is inspiring.

Many people have asked how they can help Sally during this time. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support so far!

How can you help? Between unanticipated expenses, tests and treatments not covered by insurance and having to reduce her workload (and therefore, her income), the financial burden is substantial. Sally continues to work part time while undergoing chemo which is a true testament to her love for her work. We hope to help lift some of the financial strain off of her shoulders and allow Sally to focus solely and completely on healing.
