Help Chantalle Wilson Fight Breast Cancer
We are starting a fundraiser on behalf of our dear friend Chantalle. Chantalle is an amazing 28 year old woman situated in Vancouver, BC. In September 2021, Chantalle packed up her life in Edmonton and moved out to the west coast. After one month of living life in Vancouver, Chantalle noticed a lump in her breast. Following various mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs and biopsies, she received a difficult diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer. She recently underwent a partial-mastectomy where they removed 6 lymph nodes and a 2.5 cm tumour from her breast and armpit; we are all very hopeful that it will be her last surgery.
Since her surgery, Chantalle has received her treatment plan for the upcoming months. This will begin with months of chemotherapy, followed by radiation. Unfortunately, these treatments will affect Chantalle's ability to have children. She will need to begin hormonal ovary preservation as soon as possible. This process has two steps. The first step is freezing her eggs that will cost upward of $20,000. The second step consists of receiving injections which essentially put her ovaries "to sleep" to protect them from the harsh chemotherapy. The injections will cost $1,400 each session and we have not been told how many injections she will need. This process is not covered by Canadian healthcare and Chantalle has now been faced with some painful and costly decisions.
Chantalle has not been able to work since her invasive surgery in December. This has given her the needed time to focus on her physical and mental health, and continue her road to recovery. This GoFundMe will help Chantalle alleviate the financial stress of not being able to work while still having bills to pay and also fund associated treatment costs.
Anyone who knows Chantalle knows how fun and caring she is; she’s always up for any adventure and has many more ahead. But now, as she battles through this, she’ll need all the love and support to keep spirits high. Please donate what you can to help Chantalle through this.
Thoughtful words of support are encouraged throughout this process - please post and share through this platform. We will also keep this account updated with more info as it comes throughout recovery.
