Our Little Warrior Noah

Donation protected

This is Nick, Sara, and Noah’s story written in Sara’s perspective:

Noah is our beautiful, sweet and kind 3 year old little boy. Noah is a true miracle and the definition of a warrior. He’s been fighting a rare brain cancer called Ependymoma since the young age of 6 months old and has overcome more in his short three and a half years than most people do in an entire lifetime. Less than 200 people are diagnosed with this disease in the United States each year. He’s a special little boy to say the least!

Our little fighter has beaten cancer twice already and has been cancer free for almost two years now. It has been an amazing 20 months and we have tried our best to live everyday to the fullest knowing that Noah’s cancer was likely to return eventually with vengeance. At Noah’s first reoccurrence in May 2018, he was given a less than 20% chance of surviving the next 5 years. We weren’t willing to accept those odds then and we certainly are not willing to accept them today.

Two weeks ago on February 19 our world was crushed for the third time, but this time we knew immediately that we would refuse to accept defeat and crumble to the poor statistics of this disease. Noah’s cancer has returned and this time has metastasized to another location in the brain and disseminated down his spine. We’re no longer fighting one tumor, but are now fighting 3 making Noah’s prognosis worse and making the fight that much harder.

Treatment options are limited for a child Noah’s age and are often detrimental to a child’s overall health and development due to the toxicity of radiation to healthy brain tissue in someone under 5 years old. In order to preserve Noah’s quality of life we have decided to go against the more ‘curative treatment’ because we are not willing to lose Noah and his sweet personality.

Over the next 7 weeks we will travel to Philadelphia for radiation treatment at Children’s hospital of Philadelphia where Noah has received treatment in the past. After Noah finishes radiation treatment we will pursue a clinical trial in Augusta Georgia in hopes to preserve Noah’s quality of life and keep the cancer at bay.

The moment we found out about Noah’s cancer returning my husband and I have been unable to return to work. Being together as a family throughout this process is so very important to us, which means that our family will be lacking in income for the next 2-5 months. Swallowing our pride and admitting we need help has never been easy for my husband and I to do, but we know now that people truly want to help and that we would do anything to help save our baby boy.

We truly believe Noah will beat this cancer again and we’re not willing to give up on the beautiful life we know he was born to live. We’re asking now that if you are willing and able to help us financially we would be eternally grateful.

From the bottom of our hearts we are so thankful for the support we’ve gained throughout this journey and will never truly be able to thank you all for being so generous to our family during these difficult times. Noah’s warriors are a true force to be reckoned with!
