House Reconstruction for the Nnadi Family

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am raising funds on behalf of my close friend and blockmate, Venus Nnadi and her family of 6. Venus Nnadi is a Harvard College rising junior, proud member of the IC, and Queens, New York native.

On the night of Thursday, June 11, 2020, the Nnadi household experienced a gas explosion that substantially damaged the entire house. Thankfully, nothing caught on fire–despite firefighters finding this a rarity, saying a fire usually results from an explosion of this extent–and everyone is alive. We can thank no one but God for this kind of miracle in the midst of this catastrophe. However, the house is ruined due to magnitude of the explosion: the stove and sink were completely uprooted and the entire kitchen is destroyed; doors and windows were broken or blown out of their frames completely as the actual infrastructure of the house was damaged and walls indicate that the foundation may have been affected; the functional components of the house, such as plumbing, have been damaged, so there is no running water in the house; and virtually all furniture and appliances in close proximity were broken or in some way damaged. Moreover, Venus' mother was most impacted by the explosion as she was in the kitchen and may require medical treatment for respiratory and cutaneous problems.

As such, this GoFundMe was created to aid their family in repairing their house's infrastructure, refurbishing the house, and covering any potential medical or other costs that may result from this tragedy. The family is grateful for any resources, support, and prayers that you may be able to give during this difficult time.

Thank you.

Picture evidence of some of the damage:

The kitchen area, showing the stove and sink were uprooted and the surrounding area was damaged as well.

One of the doors that was completely unhinged from its frame, blown out from the force of the explosion.

One of the windows that were blown out, with clothes from the room even being flung out the window along with it.

The pipe of one sink, showing some of the damage to the plumbing of the house. No water comes out of anything.

Damage in the dining room, appliances and tableware being flung about and shattered.

One example of how the walls were affected by the damage. Walls were also bent in other areas.

Example of miscellaneous property that was damaged. Other things like the television and cable were also damaged.
