No Booze to help Bec fight breast cancer
Donation protected
“Twenty twenty's nothing but an unshaved ballbag” - Hilltop Hoods…..have lyrics ever been more true? I don’t think there is anyone that has not been impacted from the events of 2020, but some have definitely done it tougher than others. In particularly our much-loved friend from south Africa/ Sweden / Phillip island / Hobart, Rebecca Trollip.
Early in the year she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Since then she has undergone a Mastectomy and is now in the middle of Chemotherapy, dealing with all the shit associated with it, the nausea, the hair loss, the anxiety. To add to this, she has had to undergo these medical procedures during the Corona restriction meaning that she had to face many of them alone in a sci-fi like hospital world where no carer’s may enter. Once all the chemo is done its onto Radiation then hormone treatment for 5 years…. Oh the joy.
Anyone that knows Bec would agree that she is one of the strongest, kind hearted people that your ever likely to meet in this lifetime. It is no surprise that she has tackled this jerk faced disease with the same strength and positivity that we all adore her for, while also somehow juggling 3 children under 4.
But it is not without cost. Covering the cost of living combined with extensive medical expenses plus reduced work hours has impacted on Bec and her family. That is why we have set up the following go fund me. All money raised will go to Bec and her family to assist in recovery costs, pay for treatment, bills, fill water tanks, whatever.
Now we don’t mind a beer or two on the odd occasion .. And so, we are going to cut out all booze for a month and donate what we would normally spend to Bec instead. The horror I hear you scream!! But if Bec can endure all this, surely, we can survive …right? So, we call to you friends of Bec far and wide, if you’ve been wanting to help but didn’t know how, get amongst it by participating with the three options below.
How it works
There are 3 key ways to be involved.
1) Give up Booze for 1 month and donate what you would off spent on booze into this go fund me account. You can complete your 4 weeks any time to work around any major events in your calendar such as weddings.
2) If you know someone doing the no booze for Bec, support them with a sponsorship on the Go fund me page.
3) If you’re not keen on option 1 or 2 but just want to donate to the fund because Bec is rad, then just make a donation.
Whatever your involvement level we ask you to do 1 more thing. Post your favorite photo of you and Bec with the story of the photo so she, and everyone, can enjoy the memory as well. This can be done on any social media platform with the hashtag #noboozeforbec & tag anyone you know that you think may want to get involved. Spread the word of the fundraiser so we assist easing the burden for the radest human ever
