No one fights alone! Iris' Journey

Hi,

My name is Aretha. I am fundraising to help my younger sister, Iris (Nelson) Staff. She is a single mother who is having a rough 2023 year to say the least. Iris had an unsuccessful back surgery on 1/30/23 that ended up in an extended hospital stay then inpatient physical rehabilitation unit for weeks. This surgery left her homebound for weeks after her inpatient stay in which she continued her recovery including services such as: OT, PT, aides and nurses to assist with daily living due to the limited mobility of her lower left leg . She continues to use assisted devices, including a wheelchair or electric scooter for longer distances and receives physical therapy on an outpatient basis even months after surgery with no guarantee of ever regaining full use of her lower left side. As if this weren’t enough, Iris continues to endure more medical problems. This month, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and will require surgery and treatment in the near future. During all of this, Iris has been unable to work as she remains under a doctor's care.

For those of you who do not know Iris personally, she is a mother hen who is always looking out for others and putting herself last. She has a big heart and continuously shows it. She donated a kidney to her father, did foster care for years touching many lives and adopted her 2 children. It is time that we show Iris the same love and support in her time of need.
