SAVE PARKHOUSE FARM
Donation protected
"Remember Parkhouse" is a grassroots group advocating for the responsible use of the the land surrounding Parkhouse Providence Pointe at 1600 Black Rock Road, Upper Providence Township.
This property, which was public land since 1806, was designated as Open Space Conservation in County and Township documents.
The unprecedented sale of open space by the Montgomery County Commissioners in 2014 opened the door for development on this pristine acreage in our community.
The latest plan submitted by developer Scott Rifkin consists of 1,203 units.
This plan will create stormwater runoff that will further devastate the hard-hit flood-prone areas of Mont Clare and Port Providence.
It will overburden our Police, Fire, and EMS services.
It will endanger the many species of wildlife that call it home.
It will add untold traffic to our already overtaxed roads.
It will destroy property values.
Current zoning is Open Space Conservation with an Institutional overlay, which allows for approximately 10% - 15% of the space to be developed as an Institutional use (school, hospital, CCRC, church, governmental, etc.). This plan does not comply with the legislative intent of the Township's zoning code.
Join us to stop this irresponsible development and work for a plan that respects the history of the property and maintains the character of the neighborhood.
Your donation will fund legal representation for the PEOPLE of Upper Providence Township, as well as various other efforts, including yard signs, web site, mailers, etc. for raising awareness on this issue
We lost this precious open space nine years ago when our objections to the sale of this historical property were ignored by the Montgomery County Commissioners. Please help us to make sure our Upper Providence Township Supervisors do not ignore our wishes today. Defend our ordinance!
Thank you for your support!
