Noah Pila Takes On Cancer

*Updated 1/15/24… The type of cancer Noah has is not curable. He continues to do chemotherapy every month and has to do a MRI of the brain every 2 months. He will battle this for the rest of his life. Because of this, the main goal is to keep the cancer under control with aggressive treatments in hopes of preventing any new tumor growth, all while working hard to maintain Noah’s quality of life. 

Out of pocket expenses to date for Noah’s cancer treatments have been well over 100k. The many different aspects of Noah’s brain surgery alone totaled 87k out of pocket. Since then, Noah has qualified for additional insurance lowering the out of pocket expenses but still monthly co-pays for supplements, treatments, appointments, and therapy, are about 1k each month. Hawaii insurance does not cover any of his appointments with the University of San Fransisco Cancer Center. Because of these continued expenses, his family has had to clear out their savings and drain every resource. 

This gofundme has been the biggest blessing for Noah and his family covering almost 75% of his expenses to date. They could not have gotten this far without all of the generous support offered here. As the battle continues, the family is tapped out of any financial reserve they had or creative ways to cover the continued costs. As soon as we heard of this, we wanted to give an update and ask the community to rally once again to help them. We know that Noah and his family will be so deeply grateful for any contribution you are able to offer. Noah’s positive and fun loving attitude remains. He’s fighting hard, tolerating his treatments well, and enjoying life ❤️. We all know Noah for his kind heart, loving nature, and his spirit of aloha. His mom, Anna Golden Kaaua, dotes that he's a wonderful older brother to his sister, Ahonui. Drive past him on the road, and he'll throw a shaka and a smile to start your morning off right. It's no wonder his hospital room was inundated with friends when he unexpectedly went in to be treated for a seizure. Sadly, MRI results indicate that our sweet Noah has a cancerous brain tumor.

Take a scroll through Noah's Instagram and see that this boy is built to take on gnarly conditions. Whether it be concussion-inducing tackles on the football field or strong ocean currents when surfing, this young man can handle. We all know Noah as an adventurous waterman... paddling, surfing, fishing, diving. We know if anyone can take on a brain tumor, it's this guy!

But he needs our help! He is being flown to Queen's Medical Center for further testing and treatment. With his family residing on the Big Island and treatment being in Oahu, we know the bills will add up.
