Noah Roach
Noah Roach was born with sickle-cell anemia and has
been in and out of the hospital with what is referred to as "pain crises" throughtout his childhood. Throughout all of this, he has managed to remain an active, fun'loving 11 year old who enjoys baseball, reading, and hanging out with friends. Noah has been a hard-working student at Indian Trail Elementary School, a dynamic baseball player at Matthews Athletic &Recreation Association (Mara) making the All Star Team his 8U and 9U year, and is currently a player on the 11U Team Carolina basball team.
Throughout this fall baseball season, Noah began to experience pain in his knee. He oftentimes had to cheer on his team from the bench as his knee hurt to much to play. His parents took him to the doctor who connected it with the pains of Sickle Cell. However, as it continued to cause him trouble his parents insisted on an MRI. When the results came back, a mass had been spotted on the scan. The doctors felt they should do a biopsy to be on the safe side. On Thursday, November 12, the result of the biopsy came back and flipped the live of the Roach family upside down: it was positive for cancer.
Noah was officially diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). He now faces 29 weeks of chemotherapy with surgery to do a full knee replacement after the 11th week. This wonderful, active child will now have to be home-schooled and take a break from many of his favorite activities.
Theo and Lillian Roach, Noah's parents, have worked hard to gve their only child a typical childhood while dealing with Sickle Cell and now want the same for him as much as possible throughout this journey of cancer treatment and recovery. However, both Lillian and Theo will have to take time off from work in order to be there for their son . Not only will they be faced with overwhelming medical bills, the everyday bills are going to be a struggle to cover while giving their son the attention that he needs. What Noah and his family needs are, first of all, lots of prayers . Secondly ,they will need financial help. Please look into your hearts and wallets and donate whatever amount (no matter how big or small) that you are able to help this wonderful family as they navigate along their journey.
