Noah's March to Cure Diabetes

Donation protected
Noah was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at 16 months old.  He has been living with the daily challenge of monitoring his blood sugar levels.  While doing research for a school project, he came across a “walk for a cure.”  He asked his Dad, “How far do I need to walk to be cured?”  His father explained that there wasn’t actually a cure yet and that the events he found were fundraisers for research.   Around that same time, Noah watched a documentary about a cancer patient named Terry Fox who, to raise money for cancer research, began an impossible journey to run across Canada, on one leg.   The next day, Noah decided that he wanted to do his part to find a cure that impacts over 29 million people in America alone.  Noah presented a map of the United States to his father and explained his plan on how the journey could be achieved.  Noah’s father was speechless and seeing the pure heart of a child with the determination of a freight train, Noah’s March was created. Noah’s focus was then turned to convincing his mother to leave her home and live out of Jeep. Noah’s mother, Joanne, was much tougher to convince than his father but after a lego demonstration of how this journey could be achieved Joanne finally agreed.  Noah’s grandfather, on the other hand, was unconvinced saying that Noah is just too young and will be unable to cross America.

Noah’s March Foundation  sole purpose is to fundraise to cure diabetes.  Noah looked at leaders like General Patton and recognized that if you want to achieve your goal with a group of people all moving in the same direction, you don’t walk…you March!  Noah has reached out to a number of scientists who have active research projects and they all say the same thing: If we only had a little more money, we can cure this disease.  What tends to be the most expensive part of research are human trials which recently have been receiving less funding. Noah’s March will be fundraising to support the research devoted to finding a cure within the next ten years.

According to the JDRF, between 2002-2013 the incidence of Type I Diabetes has increased in children by 57%. In August 2016, JDRF released a report that if a cure is not found we will experience a 303% increase is Type I Diabetes by 2050.  What that means is that of the 4 million children born a year, 50,000 of them will get diabetes each year.  That is around 10% of our children!

Starting at approximately 7:15am (sunrise) on January 1, 2017, the Noah’s March will commence from Key West, FL to Blaine, WA (about 4000 miles).  You can see on the website www.NoahsMarch.com the entire map.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to you joining us along our journey to cure Diabetes.
