Noel Valentin Bernal, 75, of Clearfield, Utah, passed away on March 28, 2017 at Davis Hospital.
It All Began
He was born in Miravalles, Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico on July 2, 1941 to Teofilo Bernal and Saturnina Villalobos. He was the second oldest of nine siblings; four girls and five boys.
He grew up working in his father’s farm until the age of sixteen when he left home to head north. Eventually, he migrated to the United States under the Braceros program working in the fields of Texas. He returned to Tijuana, Mexico and worked as a barber, until becoming a permanent US resident.
He got married to his sweetheart, he met in church, on July 9, 1971 in Las Vegas, NV. He continued to pursue the Americano Dream in the US as a hair stylist, custodian, salesman and in 1980 started his own business, purchased properties, an RV and above all had a large family. He has resided in Rosemead, Huntington Park, South Gate California before moving to Utah in 2011.
He was a people person and could make quick friends with his humor and gab. He also had a natural ability to sing and would bring people to tears when he sang his favorite song in church, “Suenan Las Trompetas” (translated: “Sound the Trumpets”). With his family, he had numerous quirky mispronounced sayings such as: “tu me andoras, yo te andoro.” (translated: “you adore me, I adore you”) “es qwue y es qwue” (translated: “it’s because and because.”)
Family Life
He was survived by his wife of 46 years Graciela Torres-Bernal. Five children: Gavino (spouse Amalia), Carlos (spouse Maria), Dan, Lisa and David (spouse Amiee). Nine grandchildren: Gavino Jr, Diana Esmeralda, Melinda, Amber, Alexander, Cassie, Samantha, Caitlin and Matthew. Four great-grandchildren: Adrian, Angelina, Genesis and Jayson. He's also survived by his mother (aged 99) and six of his nine siblings.
Service
Service will be held on Saturday April 8, 2017 @ 10-11:30 am viewing at Myer’s Mortuary in Layton, burial at 12:30pm at Clearfield City Cemetary and reception at 286 W 700 N, Clearfield, UT 84015.
We thank everyone for your prayers and condolences.
Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! -Psalms 150:1-6
As my dad loved to say, “Ya me voy, porque vine.” (translated: “I’m leaving, because I came.”)
