Noelia's Life with Moya Moya
Hi my name is Glenda LaSalle and I'm fundraising for my sister Noelia Morales who is fighting a disease she did not know of until April of this year. Noelia or Nolie as she is known to many, was told she is living with a rare brain disease called Moya Moya that could give her a stroke, seizure or even an aneurysm. But to God be the Glory her doctors found it in time, however, she still needed surgery & her fight has only just started.
What is MoyaMoya? It is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain in an area called the basal ganglia. The name “moyamoya” means “puff of smoke” in Japanese and describes the look of the tangle of tiny vessels formed to compensate for the blockage.
Doctors do not know how long she has had this disease but we know she had been suffering migraine like headaches for a while and knew something wasn’t right when she started to feel pressure in her ears and neck with numbness to her temples and cheeks. On May 17th, she had the first brain surgery on the right side of her brain & will be out of work for the next year or so as she has to be on restriction for most things she would normally be able to do. She is to turn 40yrs old in September and while we had plans to celebrate this milestone birthday, Noelia will be recovering from a 2nd brain surgery on the left side of her brain at the time of her 40th birthday.
We ask if you can donate any amount, we would greatly appreciate it as the medical bills are piling up. Where there were 2 incomes now there's only one with her husband having to take many days off to be with her and care for her.
Thank you for your prayers and for the love and support you all have shown her thus far. God bless you.
