Noise Pop Industries needs your help. Like many businesses in the live music, entertainment and nightlife communities around the globe, we’ve been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 quarantine and the subsequent tsunami of necessary cancellations and closures. Noise Pop live events have been canceled through at least April 30th, and most likely well beyond. Our roster of upcoming free events and concerts this summer is very uncertain, and the businesses that advertise with our entertainment guide DoTheBay.com are all suffering just like us.
Over the past 27 years, Noise Pop has thrown countless shows in partnership with independent venues across the Bay Area, including Bottom of the Hill, Rickshaw Stop, Swedish American Hall, Starline Social Club, The Chapel, and many more (see our working list of venue fundraising campaigns below!). What started in 1993 as a single $5 show to shine a spotlight on five under-appreciated local bands has gone on to spawn Treasure Island Music Festival (2007-2018); 20th Street Block Party (2012 - present); DoTheBay, and thousands of other concerts and events over the years. In the dramatically changing economic and cultural landscape of the Bay Area, Noise Pop has strived to be a constant outlet and support mechanism for local and touring artists for over a quarter of a century. Today, we employ a core team of 12 and dozens of additional event staff to help produce our shows; all of them passionate music and culture-loving Bay Area citizens.
We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to showcase emerging artists and contribute to our local music and arts culture. But existing as a small promoter is extremely challenging in the current landscape of the Bay Area. The recent prohibition of gatherings and events is a devastating blow to our already struggling business and its employees, who are all now either dealing with substantial pay cuts or out of work entirely due to this crisis. For Noise Pop, like many related businesses, it’s existential.
Our goal is to not have to make further cuts, and we’re working hard on some new initiatives to help us through this, but it will not be soon enough and for now really need your help.
Donations from this campaign will go entirely to keeping our crew employed and the company afloat, so that we can continue to focus on creating more work and opportunities for our community and uplifting and diversifying the Bay Area music and arts scene.
If you are able and compelled to help it will be greatly appreciated.
Bringing together the music community and local culture at large is the heart of our mission. Noise Pop would not exist today without the passion for live music and culture from folks like you, so thank you for your continued support and love. It truly means the world.
A lot of our friends and partners out there are also in similar predicaments, so if you are able please also consider making a contribution to these other members of our independent live music community.
