Noke Kuin people - Village (Aldeia), Vari Vena

My name is Daniela, I'm Brazilian and I've been living in Ireland since 2010.

In 2018 I started my journey opening space to the indigenous people, guardians of the Amazon Forest, coming to Europe to share their messages and to ask for help. The forest is now in danger, more than ever.

Just recently we had massive damage by fire in the Amazon Forest, burning thousands of animals alive, thousands of trees and plants of different species. The flames spread through native vegetation. Low water levels in the region’s rivers made it difficult to combat the fires, leaving Indigenous villages inaccessible.

Many factors have contributed to the massive increase in fires in the Amazon, like the climate change but mostly the man's hand (intentionally). The year of 2023 was the hottest year ever recorded for our planet, and June 2024 marked 13 consecutive months of global record temperatures, increasing long dry seasons, and making the forest vulnerable to fires.

Right now, a curtain of smoke from wildfires in the rainforest is spreading across Brazil, and making its way to Sao Paulo and the rest of Brazil from there. There's smoke everywhere now. The worst air conditions ever registered.

Not only Prayers , but actions are necessary now to keep the Guardians of the forest healthy and safe , otherwise the forest will be gone in no time.

In the last couple of years, I have been going to the forest and also bringing the forest to Ireland, with the intention to build up a bridge in our hearts, where we understand that we all need the Forest alive and in harmony, despite the fact that we are not living in Brazil. The impact will be Global.

We recently had the opportunity to receive here in Ireland, the two representatives of Noke Kuin Family, from the village (Aldeia), Vari Vena, located in Acre, Cruzeiro do Sul (Indigenas land Katukina), The leader called Variviniya Varinawa and his brother Merota Vari Ona, Txana Varinawa.

They came to share the message from the Spirits of the Forest and to encounter and connect with the spirits of Ireland. The encounter of the ancestors of the two sacred lands, brought a lot of healing and expansion.

This indigenous family, from the Village Vari Vena, still live in a very ancient way. They are trying to keep their tradition, even with the need of keeping connected with the western world, where some try to destroy their culture, and on the other side, there's us that try to help them. To protect them, giving them a safe space to show and speak their real struggles with the basic needs of survival.

I had the opportunity to host them in my house, where we could have long conversations and I was extremely touched on how pure and genuine they are and how focused their community is in what really matters... Cleaning the water and keeping their village safe.

This tour was the second time ever that they traveled to europe. Where other indigenous ethnicities have been traveling for a few years, some of them, ten years already. The leader of Noke Kuin, Varinyia Varinawa was resistant to travel away from his village, afraid of invasion. Since their " Preserved" Land was cut in the middle, a few years ago by the Brazilian Government, and a motorway was built, the danger began.

With a motorway dividing their villages, the access from the outsiders to the village was easier, and the Noke Kuin People crossing the motorway to the other side of the village became a problem. A fatal problem.

Varivinya Warinawa, first son, at age 10, was hit by a truck, while crossing this motorway and was killed.

The kid was walking home from school when the accident happened. The driver fled the scene without providing assistance to the child.

This fatality happened in April of 2022. I remember I was pregnant with Leon and I was receiving updates of the condition of the kid by a common friend that was supporting the family, and it was when I first met our brother, in my prayers.

I'm creating this campaign with two goals,

The First One - WATER - To dig a well - The village are going through a very difficult time, a dry period, specially after the fires incidents, where the level of the water in the rivers around are extremely low, dirty and the water is contaminated by the amount of dry leaves that are falling down. The elderly people and kids especially, are suffering, as they are more vulnerable.

The place where they used to drink water and shower, is unfortunately not safe anymore.

They are walking some miles everyday, a few times per day, with buckets on their hands to bring water to their villages.

The cost for digging a well is around 20.000 Reais (Brazilian Currency).

Around 4000 Euros.

The Second one - LAND - There's private land, beside their lands available for Sale. The leaders are working to buy this land where they can reunite with the other side of the road and also start the work of reforesting. Having a private land is the only way they can "maybe" be safe once, big companies are all around the land that should be preserved and cutting trees, hunting illegally and they can't stop it as there are no support from a system that should be aware and represent them, being against this massacre that the man is doing against the forest to preserve the nature, the biome and the future of the planet.

Vari Vinya, knows that this land will be extremely important for the next generations, for their safety and to keep the culture alive.

Once they have the land, they will start working to build the future of their families, their houses until its ready for them to move in.

They already paid a deposit for the owner of this Land of 40.000 Reais, and the rest of the cost of this land is 160.000 Reais.

Around 26.000 Euros.

I know that there are many other villages of guardians of the forest going through a difficult time. I hear the cry coming from the forest. I see that they all need to be heard and helped and I know there's also a lot of other souls like me, trying to spread the urge of alliance. I believe that together we can make a difference. Our kids, and the kids of our kids, need us.
