Nolan and Glenda

Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Souls, my name is Corrie and I'm fundraising for a childhood friend of mine and her son.

I am writing today with a heavy heart, sharing the story of Glenda and her beloved son, Nolan, who are facing an incredibly challenging journey ahead. Nolan, a bright and spirited 12 year old boy, has been battling seizures for years, and after a long and difficult road, he has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Along with the seizures, the tumour has also affected his digestion function and his day to day life.

Nolan’s upcoming surgery, which will take place at the Stollery, is scheduled for early April and presents both hope and uncertainty. While the operation offers the chance to remove the tumour or hopefully most of it and restore Nolan’s health, it also comes with significant risks. There is a 30% chance that Nolan may experience memory loss following the surgery, and there are inherent dangers involved in such a complex procedure. Nolan may even need to re-learn how to do many things.

As a single mother, Glenda has been Nolan’s unwavering source of love, strength, and support throughout his medical journey. Now , she faces the daunting task of taking unpaid leave from her job to care for Nolan during his recovery period. With no income coming in, it will be a struggle to cover their monthly bills and essential living expenses.

This is where we, as a community can step in and make a huge difference for Glenda and Nolan. Together, we can alleviate some of the financial burden weighing heavy on Glenda’s
shoulders. Your donation will provide much-needed relief, allowing Glenda to focus on caring for Nolan and ensuring he has everything he needs to heal and thrive. Nolan is a remarkable young boy with a passion for math and building, whether it’s constructing intricate Lego structures or assembling ROKR kits. His resilience and zest for life through all he’s been through, is truly inspiring. It would be really great if we could all support him and his mom during this trying time.

Please consider donating whatever you can to Glenda and Nolan’s GoFundMe campaign. Your generosity will not only help cover lost wages and monthly expenses but also provide invaluable emotional support to a family in need.

Let’s rally together to show Glenda and Nolan that they are not alone in their fight. Share their story far and wide, and let’s give them the strength and resources they need to face the
challenges ahead with courage and hope.

Thank-you for your compassion, kindness, and generosity.

With deepest gratitude,
Corrie
