Nolan Downing's Eagle Scout Community Project
Donation protected
My name is Nolan Downing, and I am a Life Scout in Troop 156 in Forked River, New Jersey. I am currently working towards becoming an Eagle Scout. I have been in Scouts for ten years, starting as a Tiger rank in Cub Scouts and bridging over to Boy Scouts when I was ten. As a Boy Scout, I have worked hard through six ranks and earned 38 merit badges. In addition, I have held various leadership positions. Currently, I am my troop's Senior Patrol Leader. One of the final requirements in Scouts is to plan and execute a community service project that benefits the community. This final step will help me earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting.
I am beautifying a large circle area at Mills Pond Elementary School with a two-sided bench for my community service project. This area is used every day by parents picking up their children from school. The two-sided bench will provide a seat for those parents who need to wait. Currently, there is nothing but grass, but adding flowers and bushes will make the area more cheerful.
I have received approval from the Scouts BSA Jersey Shore Council to proceed with my project. I am hoping to complete the beautification in the Spring of 2024. All funding, 100%, will go to my project and meals to feed those helping me on the day of planting. I am calling on the community, family, friends, and neighbors to seek donations to help purchase the materials needed to complete this project. My fundraising goal is $1,000 for the entire project. If you are unable to donate, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share my fundraiser to help spread the word. No matter how small you donate, every little bit helps. This project is significant to me, and I am very excited to become an Eagle Scout once my project is finished. Thank you for your support and your time.
