Nolan & Kendra with extra pregnancy related costs
Donation protected
My name is Gina. As many of you know, my sister Kendra was in an accident a few years ago that left her permanently crippled and in chronic pain. A couple of years ago Kendra and Nolan got pregnant with their daughter Ember, not knowing what pregnancy would look like exactly, but knowing it would likely be hard. They were right. You likely had no idea the pain Kendra was dealing with because 1. she’s incredibly strong and 2. she hides it very well. Pregnancy was extremely hard on Kendra’s body and became more and more painful the further along she got. The pain in her foot was exaggerated by the extra weight but the extra strain on her back after already being in rough shape from compensating for her injury was possibly the worst part. It was, in a word, traumatizing. Living on the verge of pain-induced panic attacks and struggling to sleep took its toll on both Kendra and Nolan. Nolan took over all of the housework on top of being Kendra’s main caregiver and working full time. Clearly it was worth it as they fell instantly in love with Ember and she has been their ray of sunshine. They have now made the brave decision to add to their family again. In order to stay functioning as well as possible, Kendra has a lot more appointments than the average person. Physio, Massage and Chiropractor appointments can really add up and for a one-income household, it’s a stressful but necessary cost. Nolan will also be taking two months of paternity leave at reduced pay in order to take care of Kendra and their 2 children while Kendra recovers. We can’t take away Kendra’s pain or the job of growing their child, but we can help with these extra expenses. The total amount for all of Kendra’s therapies plus the wages Nolan will lose being home for 2 months totals close to $9000. My hope is that we can help cover those costs and show our support for them in that way. Other ways you can help are bringing food or freezer meals (gluten free), offering to help with yard work or shovelling the driveway. Kendra is starting her third trimester and heading into the worst of it. Please pray for strength for Kendra as she lives with quite extreme pain for the next three months, and longer as she recovers. Pray for energy and strength for Nolan as he cares for Kendra and Ember during this time.
