This one really hits home for all of us at Moto F. A. M.
Saturday we received word that Leila was hit head on by a vehicle while on her motorcycle. Leila is one of the most selfless, genuine people we have had the privilege of calling our friend. Back in July she drove 12+ hours from Northern California to Oceanside to spend a short couple of days helping put things together for Moto F. A. M. 's Launch Party/ Fundraiser. The day following the event she made the return trip home. We were so incredibly touched by her commitment to our cause. Now it's our turn to help her.
As a result of her accident Saturday she sustained multiple injuries, including a shattered pelvic bone (acetabulum aka "the cup") as well as a fractured ankle. Both requiring surgery. She had her first hip surgery the same day she arrived in the hospital. She's currently in traction with the hope she will have the follow up surgery to put her hip back together Wednesday. Her doctor says it will be at least 3 months before she will be able to walk again. Then she will be faced with the long road of rehabilitation.
She will remain in the hospital indefinitely for now, but as soon as she can she will be making plans/arrangements to accomidate her need for supervision once she leaves the hospital. This means she will be leaving the comforts of her own home. This will not be an easy process for her. It goes without saying but the loss of income during this time is going to be devastating to her. We are reaching out to as many people as we can and asking if it's in your means to, PLEASE donate a few dollars. Thank you so much!
