Rebuilding Benji's Nomad Art

Please help us to help Benji. His beautiful art studio and livelihood just burnt to the ground!

Dear friends and family,
Juliana and I wanted to set up this Gofundme for our good friend Benjamin Suarez whose Art studio and livelihood recently burnt to the ground after an electrical fire broke out in the middle of the night.

Many of you who came to our Mexico wedding might remember Benji and his tireless efforts to create incredible decorations and props for the wedding day, not to mention his amazing positive energy, presecence and outlook on life.



Benji has spent the last 3 years redeveloping his life and career by building himself a new, small business called Nomad Art, near Sayulita in Mexico.
By living modestly and working hand to mouth, Benji has slowly but surely built himself a great reputation creating incredible pieces of sculptural art in all shapes, sizes and forms for use in the home and garden. His work is all built using driftwood and natural materials found on and around the beaches near his home in Sayulita. 



 

It was only in October that Benji told us he felt that his career and reputation was about to enter a new stage of success, with work and large commisions finally beginning to materialse. He couldn't be happier knowing that he could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and experience the fruits of his labours with some money to pay the bills.


However, earlier this month everything changed for Benji when he woke to find his beautiful studio, materials and tools completely burnt to the ground. This left him with nothing. All of his pieces of art-in-progress gone, no studio, no tools and and no way of making any money to rebuild. 


Just before his workshop burnt down Benji had been commissoned to decorate a series of large villas using his arts and scultpures, many of which were in the works and are now burnt to ashes. He has obviosuly had to postpone this project until he can get back on his feet so we're hoping to raise these funds for him within 2 weeks so he can keep working on his commssioned work.

Any funds we raise will go specifically towards rebuilding a modest studio for him and purchasing the basic tools he needs to continue creating and selling his art. 

Benji is the kind of guy that will go out of his way to help another person no matter what. Juliana and I experienced his incredible generoisty and support relentlessly during our stay in Mexico and so now it's our turn to return our support by creating this page (and hopefully some funds) for him, so he can continue where he left off.


He doesn't really know much about this campaign as he's frantically trying to do all he can to get back on track so we know he will be blown away by any and all support he might recieve. 

The love he has for his work and his art was so implicitly connected to his love of life that we can't wait to give him the boost and support he deserves with this Gofundme campaign and get him back up and running in no time.
