For NOOR GoFundMe Campaign
We are appealing for your help to allow us to continue our Community Soup To-Go donation program. Since March 27th we have been supplying soup to our local community, free of charge, to everyone in need. Please read on for our story.
NOOR has been an integral part of the Pasadena landscape since we first opened our doors in 2010. Our vision was, and always will be, to create a warm and welcoming space for our clients to celebrate their most special of days. We have been truly blessed to share in the wonderful weddings and celebrations of thousands of Angelenos.
We are first and foremost a family business, NOOR is run by myself, my wonderful wife Maggie and her brother Sarkis, and over the years we have put together a team of amazing event professionals, chefs, banquet and bar staff. It was with heavy heart that we had to temporarily close our doors last month along with so many other small businesses.
We quickly realized that along with the terrible health consequences of the COVID-19 virus for our nation and the world, we were also facing a myriad of other emergencies. People suddenly deprived of their jobs and incomes were lining up at food banks in droves. Supermarkets became dangerous places for our seniors and anyone with an underlying health condition. Hunger was becoming a consequence of this pandemic that no one foresaw. We decided that we wanted help.
On March 27th we opened up our commercial kitchen and called in as many of our staff that we could afford to pay. We equipped our kitchen with a medical grade filtration system and we equipped our staff with face masks and gloves and began our Community Soup To-Go donation program.
Every week since that date we have been preparing and distributing 1,200 servings of soup in our kitchen and supplying it to everyone who needs it in our community free of charge. It was our promise to our community to continue this program for as long as it was needed and here we are 5 weeks later still keeping our promise. The soup that we are serving isn’t ordinary soup! It is plant-based, and made with completely fresh and natural immune –boosting ingredients. So far we have made and donated Vegetable & Barley Soup, Vegetarian Chili, Vegetarian Borscht Soup, Tomato & Rice Soup, Potato & Leek Soup, Green Pea & Spinach Soup, Minestrone Soup and more to well over a thousand people in need, along with supplying soup to the Pasadena Senior Center, Ronald McDonald House and Hathaway-Sycamore Child & Family Services.
We are doing our best to help keep our local community fed and healthy but our Soup To-Go program desperately needs funds in order to continue. The funds raised will cover the cost to prepare 1,200 servings per week for the next 14 weeks to the community, which is when we should reach Stage 3 of the California Resilience Roadmap that allows us to re-open our business. Please donate so we can continue our Community Soup To-Go donations and feed more people in need.
On behalf of everyone at NOOR,
Thank you and be safe.
