Nora Benjamin is fighting for her life!
Donation protected
Nora Benjamin just turned 5 years old on April 3rd, 2022 and has already endured many struggles that no child should ever have to face. She is currently fighting for her life in the OU Children’s Cardiac ICU.
Backstory: Nora was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy (a rare heart condition) in July of 2020. She was placed on ECMO life support and underwent a heart transplant in August of 2020. Nora had been doing well at home but had another setback in February of 2022 when she ended up back in the Children’s Cardiac ICU with acute heart rejection due to Covid. After a short hospital stay, her heart function began to improve and she was able to return home again. At her heart cath appointment on April 4th, 2022, Nora’s heart function had gone back down and she was admitted to ICU for treatment. On April 5th, Nora coded for 20 minutes and was put on ECMO life support where she currently remains, fighting for her life. Re-transplant chances are very high and she does not have kidney function. The plan is to let her body rest after resuscitation and to figure out what the next steps are.
Please help out this wonderful family as they face a very long and difficult road both emotionally and financially. They will need assistance with medical bills, loss of wages, and day to day expenses as they have 2 year old twins at home as well.
Please follow “Nora Benjamin’s Story” on Facebook to receive updates on her progress. Please keep the family in your prayers during this very difficult time!
