Hi, My name is Allison, and I am raising funds for my friend and co-worker, Norah Fitzgerald whom I have had the privilege to work with for about three years now.
Norah would describe herself as a dogged optimist and anyone who knows her would fully agree. She is a teacher at a small private school in New Hampshire, where she works with children ages 3 to 13 in an aftercare program. Her fine Irish brogue, upbeat personality, and sense of humor are famous for putting a smile on any child's face.
It takes a lot to get Norah down, but the past two years have done their best to try. After four surgeries to repair injuries from falls, made worse by severe osteoporosis, her doctor told her she would need a total hip replacement. The surgeon canceled her original surgery date in November within a week of its scheduled date then refused to do it. Still, somehow, despite obvious pain, Norah has shown up to work with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. The kids thoroughly enjoy her quick sense of humor and think it's great fun to pretend to be Norah using a stick as a crutch on the playground. She gets a kick out of this and never lets on to how much pain she has been in.
Now, Norah has a new surgery date on January 24th! She will be out of work for at least six weeks recovering. Even with Cornerstone's support, we know that Norah will need help to cover her living, medical, and recovery expenses. Thank you in advance for your prayers/thoughts, generous donations, and for sharing her story!
