Norma Cuevas Cancer Treatment Fund

Norma Cuevas is a wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend loved by all. In 2003 her life was just beginning, with a young son and many years of happiness to look forward to, when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma.  After enduring chemotherapy and one failed stem cell transplant, she received a successful allogeneic transplant from stem cells donated by her sister.  It was a long battle and road to recovery that lasted from 2003 - 2008.  When another cancerous mass returned in her right leg, the doctors were able to remove it and treat it with radiation.  By the end of 2008, thankfully she was in remission. 

During the ensuing years she worked hard at a local school and raising her son with her husband, Juan.  She contributed positively to her community of Humble, Texas, and continued being a blessing and a loving presence to all around her.  Unfortunately, in 2018 she heard the devastating news that cancer had returned.  She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Head and Neck cancer, specifically Tonsil cancer. This was not a metastasis of the original Multiple Myeloma,  but a new cancer that had developed with no known cause.  She has undergone radiation and chemotherapy and is due for further testing soon to determine her next course of treatment.   

Naturally, her family, friends, and all those who love her are saddened by this new diagnosis. And although Norma and her husband work full time and have health insurance, they are now struggling not only with her health, but with funding the care that she needs to stay alive.  With co-pays in the thousands of dollars, missed time at work, and some procedures not fully covered by insurance, they have had to postpone much needed testing in order to save the money to pay for the procedure.
