Norman Verzosa’s Medical Journey

Hello-My name is Elmina V. Vinson and this is so difficult for me to post but with my brother Norman Verzosa’s permission; I am able to tell you why he has been absent from social media.

A little medical history about him: at the age of 37 he suffered a major stroke which left him with total left side paralysis and in a wheelchair. A few years later he developed stage 3 kidney failure and last year he became diabetic.

He’s 52 now and two days before Thanksgiving he became gravely ill. We brought him to ER only to get the call that his colon had perforated and was rushed into surgery. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer and colorectal cancer and it has spread to his thoracic spine and his lymph nodes as well as developing multiple masses in his pelvis area. In addition to all of the above, developed pneumonia.

As he continues to fight, his body is failing. His mind is alert but he is in so much pain. At this point, we are looking at comfort care in a matter of days. We are hoping to keep him comfortable, so his eldest son, Brandon, can finish his NAVY A School this week and graduate on Friday-this was Norman’s wish. (Brandon had already come home on emergency leave at Thanksgiving.

I am humbled in writing this because not only are we requesting prayers for Norman but also to ask that you consider making a donation to his medical fund so that we may keep him comfortable and see that his last request, to be laid to rest near our other brother Nelson, become reality.

We know times are hard on everyone, so please do not feel obligated to donate. But if you have a moment in the day, please say a prayer for a peaceful and painless journey for our baby brother as he transitions home to God.
