NORR Lazaret (Infirmary Building) Fundraiser

Thank you very much again to everyone who has already donated towards the renovation of the camp’s Infirmary! This project will require more time, effort, and financial support than we had originally anticipated. When renovation work began this past summer, it quickly became apparent that the building was in the most dire state and needed complete gutting. Please see the attached photos. XB! We all are looking forward to our 57th summer camp in the Catskill Mountains!

Sadly, one of our most important structures, the Lazaret (Infirmary) building, is in a dire state and needs immediate attention and crucial work. A stream that runs under the Lazaret has significantly damaged the structural integrity of the building - there is standing water in the basement and most of the wooden support beams are heavily eroded, which has resulted in the building shifting and leaning, thereby damaging most windows and doors. Furthermore, the moisture creeping up from the basement has caused damage of the walls and pretty much everything else on the main floor of the building. The following work needs to be accomplished as soon as possible: the underground stream must be diverted, all the support beams must be replaced, and all the rooms and bathrooms in the Lazaret must be renovated and upgraded to current medical standards. This is costly but essential work. We need your help! Please consider donating towards helping us renovate this building that is crucial to camp operation and the well-being of our children.

We are raising funds in memory of the late Elizabeth Olhovsky (Shohov). Liza was a former camper and a beloved camp nurse who cherished volunteering her time to care for camp youth. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
