North America Adventure 2023
Donation protected
I am really excited to have been accepted as one of the 108 Scouts and Explorers, to attend the North America Adventure in 2023. Last October, I participated in a selection day, filled with activities such as: cooking, putting up tents, navigation and other scouty things. With over 1000 applications for the various Jamborees in 2023, I was fortunate enough to be chosen to attend the North America Adventure. Leading up to this trip, I will be attending numerous training weekends, in addition to my regular scouting activities, to help prepare me for my American expedition. I hope to bring back some of my experiences to enrich my scouting group.
I have been in Scouting for many years. I started as a beaver scout at the age of 6, continuing to Cubs before becoming a Scout. I have achieved my Chief Scout Silver Award and am currently working towards my Gold award. During my time in scouting, I have been supported by many incredible leaders, who have equipped me with the many scouting skills that I will need when I travel to North America.
This trip consists of a week-long hike where I will be trekking through the outdoors, setting up camp, cooking my meals and journeying through the wilderness, with only my unit and an adult trained guide and will require both good physical and mental strength. The camp we will be attending specialises in hiking and canoeing treks. I will also visit another scout camp and socialise with other American scouts. Thereafter, I will visit New York City, where I will have the opportunity of sightseeing and exploring the many famous landmarks.
During this trip, I hope to gain many new skills that will further enrich my life. I also hope to make many new friends, experience life and American culture, and enjoy a wonderful and exciting adventure.
This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity and is sure to be a life-changing experience. I believe that this expedition and adventure will be highly beneficial to me, and so that is why I hope you will help and support me in my fundraising efforts, whether it be through financial or moral support.
My primary fundraising activity will involve a sponsored walk/cycle/paddle. I have committed to completing 160 miles initially over the next 12 months, but will build on this over the next year.
Any donations/sponsorship, no matter how small, will be gratefully received. I look forward to updating you all on my progress over the next 12 months. Thank you in advance for your generous support and for helping me to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
