WATERWORKS 100 - North Belfast Community Foodbank

My name is Oisín McVicker and I am a coach and founder of GaelFit Limited. Growing up in North Belfast and working in the community, I recognise the importance of the work that the North Belfast Community Food Bank does, and the necessity of its service. For the last number of years, I have completed extreme challenges, most recently, the My Everest challenge where I completed 25 consecutive laps of the Cavehill equalling the height of the summit of Mount Everest. The challenge raised an amazing £9,000 thanks to your kind sponsorship as well as the generosity of members of the public throughout the challenge. This helped to raise awareness of the charity and I personally have seen first-hand each year the difference it makes to the lives of the families in our communities who need it most.

This year will be my biggest challenge yet: THE WATERWORKS 100

On Friday 8th December at 5am, my support team and I aim to commence the first of 100 laps of the top pond of the Waterworks. This is an extremely challenging event which will push me to my limits both physically and mentally. I am aiming to complete this challenge in under 36 hours-completing 100 miles which just under 4 marathons, I will need all the support of our local community that I can get!

Many families in our local community are feeling the strain now more than ever and are having to choose between heating their homes or feeding their families. Many already avail of the vital service that The North Belfast Community Foodbank provides, and I would like to do my part in helping to raise some much-needed funding to ensure that the doors are open for even more families this year during these challenging times.
