North Down Cricket Club is a pivotal part the local community fielding 4 adult men's teams, 2 women's teams and we had a record 6 youth teams entered for the 2020 season which is a direct result of the huge commitment made with hundreds of free coaching hours provided to many schools in the last few years.
Sadly there has been no cricket to date this season as the global heath pandemic Covid 19 has interrupted all our lives over the last few weeks, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. We are hopeful that there will be some action on the field later in the summer.
In light of this situation the club committee has decided to freeze all memberships and will not request the payment of annual subscriptions this year.
However, the club is not only losing subscription revenue but also significant sponsorships and the vital revenue that would be generated by social activities and fundraising. Whilst we have been able to avail of some government support such as the rates holiday and furlough scheme, you will understand that our finances, along with many other individuals, businesses and organisations is under and will continue to be under great stress for the foreseeable future.
As a result we are appealing to our wider community for help. Maybe you are a casual fan or a lapsed member, a former player or sponsor? Maybe you value the role sports clubs play in developing young people in a cross-community environment? Perhaps you just enjoyed an afternoon at The Green in the distant past? If any of this rings true and if you are in a position to do so, please consider a donation.
We will continue to play our part in the community over the coming months and years and we hope you can help us to continue the good work.
