Northern Arapahoe Tribe outreach
Donation protected
The Colorado Chrisitian University Northern Arapaho Tribe Thanksgiving outreach has been happening for 18 years benefitting the children and families of the Northern Arapaho on the Wind River Reservation in Arapahoe, Wyoming. With over 9800 Northern Arapaho on the reservation the Arapahoe School serves 500 students K-12 and over 250 families. With most of the families dependent on the school’s free breakfast and lunch program many do not have food when the school closes down—like Thanksgiving break. Our outreach takes food boxes for the families of the Arapahoe School and our 27 students who go on the trip interact with the kids of the school for the first three days of Thanksgiving break. Many of our students have gone multiple times and are able to track their students through the years—half of the trip is made up of students who graduated from CCU but still continue to go on the trip.
Our fundraising effort will go to buy food for the 400 boxes that we distribute during a School-wide community meal on Tuesday the 21st.
