Northern Unrest Swim Challenge
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jack, founder of the Northern Unrest Swim Club. We're a social club comprised of a tight knit friend group from our school days. A strong reason for us remaining connected was from one of our friends passing away from cancer in 2017. Our friend was cared for at Bear Cottage Children's Hospital, which is the place the fundraiser will go towards. For respect to his family I will refrain from publicly sharing more details, but this friend of ours is someone who impacted our lives tremendously through his joyful and compassionate spirit.
Over the past few months we have been swimming together every Saturday, creating Northern Unrest Swim Club in the process. I thought it would be a great idea to give our swims a purpose - to swim for our beloved friend. We have since created the 24 day swim challenge, aiming to swim as far as we individually could to raise money to donate towards Bear Cottage Children's Hospital. As a club our mission is to donate $5 for every kilometre swum and we're looking to raise public donations from friends, family, and to anyone who supports our goal. So far we are up to 60 K's ($300!) into the challenge, with another two weeks left to go.
We each have our personal goals to reach in this challenge, documented on our instagram account @NorthernUnrestSC. We will provide coverage of our swims on there, as well as updates and introductions of our members.
If you resonate with our mission to help sick children, we ask you to donate if you have the finances to do so. If not, we completely understand and would encourage you to follow along our challenge on social media to help spread awareness for our challenge.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Northern Unrest Swim Club
