Northwest Kajukenbo Club’s move in fundraiser!

Hello friends, family, and soon to be cherished donors!

My martial arts school “Northwest Kajukenbo Club” currently pursuing a permanent location! That's right! It's time to scale up the operation! Though our move in date is unknown, the cost of eventually settling in will be very real. So in the meantime I’ve decided to raise funds to lighten the load of some of our start-up costs. As well as provide a little financial cushioning as we make this exciting transition!

To fully grasp how monumental this moment is for our school, and more importantly for our student body, some context is needed.

We currently train outdoors year round hot or cold rain or shine. Using the cover of local basketball courts, we have been able to stay sheltered from most of the elements during the cold seasons. As you can imagine we’re constantly competing with folks who want to use the courts for what they were actually intended. Which has proved difficult to navigate when the ever familiar Seattle rain restricts our safe training options. One of many situations making it hard to function as a growing school. Yet we endure!

We’ve been at it for 4 years now. And since our start in 2020, our community of students has grown into what I am proud to say are some of the most dedicated and determined bunch of martial artist I’ve ever had the pleasure of teaching. Ha! They’d have to be to want to train, fight, and fall on concrete through Seattle winters, year after year.

Now, over these 4 years our school has operated using a “pay what you’re able” tuition system. With the option to contribute above or below our requested tuition rate based on need/means. This way of operating as a school has been part of our commitment to keeping our art accessible to everyone who desires to learn. It has been such a source of pride to see this system successfully bring us to the point we are at now. Providing us with enough capital to consider transitioning to an indoor facility.

I am excited by the prospect of finally being able to honor my students’ ongoing loyalty by providing them with a proper place to train.
