Northwestern Students Unite for L.A. Relief
Tax deductible
Dear Northwestern Community,
We hope this message finds you safe and well. My name is Nonso Kojo Onwaeze, and I’m writing alongside my friend Nate Berman. As freshmen here at Northwestern, we’ve been blessed to experience the warmth of this incredible community. But as we settle into the rhythm of campus life, our hearts are deeply tied to our hometown: Los Angeles, California.
The devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles and surrounding areas have left a trail of heartbreak and destruction. Entire neighborhoods have been engulfed, lives upended, and families displaced. For many of us with roots in Los Angeles, these aren’t just faraway news stories—they’re deeply personal. Friends, loved ones, and even fellow Northwestern students are among those grappling with unimaginable loss.
We’re reaching out to you, our fellow Wildcats, to ask for your support—not just for us but for the countless people in Los Angeles who are hurting right now. This is an opportunity to embody the values we hold dear at Northwestern: empathy, resilience, and the power of collective action.
One of the most impactful ways you can help is by donating to organizations actively providing relief to those affected. Every dollar counts in helping families rebuild, supporting first responders, and offering vital resources to displaced individuals. Whether it’s a small contribution or a larger one, your generosity can make a world of difference. We are donating 100% of the money to the California Fire Foundation.
Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time. Together, we can be a source of hope and healing, not just for Los Angeles but for each other.
With gratitude and hope,
Nonso Kojo Onwaeze & Nate Berman
