Recently, Cameron has been in and out of the hospital for 2 weeks time trying to treat what the doctors had thought was a normal flare up of his Ulcerative Colitis. After sending him home on two different occasions with instructions to medicate and rest, Cameron and his new wife, Melanie, knew something more serious was going on. Cameron's abdominal pain was continuing to get worse, he was unable to keep any food down and had vomited blood a concerning amount of times.
They returned to the ER for a third time, in fact the same day they were released, to discover that there were perforations in Cameron's colon allowing minor leakages into his abdomen. Concurrently, his doctors noticed that there was a blood clot on each lung making it difficult for both doctors and family to decide what the best course of action would be.
It was decided an emergency colectomy would be the best route to take for Cameron to give him the best chance of having a normal life. Even with the blood clots in his lungs, his doctor decided to move forward with the procedure due to the perforations. His doctor approached our family after his procedure to give us the good news that Cameron successfully made it through surgery. However, we were then informed that there was a baseball sized tumor on his colon that the doctor discovered was cancerous. A full internal exam was done while Cameron was under anesthesia and his doctor felt confident in saying nothing else appeared to be affected, but that she wanted to send out two lymph nodes that were attached to his colon to see if it had progressed into his lymphatic system.
A couple of days after his surgery, his doctor again approached us and we were informed the cancer has spread to his lymphatic system. Due to Cameron still healing from a major surgery, his doctors are not recommending doing a scan until he has recovered fully from his colectomy. Once that has occurred, we will be able to find out what stage he is in and how to best move forward with his treatment for overall healing.
Cameron has since started the long road to recovery and has had many hiccups along the way. He has been recovering in the hospital and is hoping to finish recovery at home soon with his wife (Melanie), dog (Suzy Q), cat (Nimbus) and his close friends and family.

Cameron and Melanie were married in September 2019 and have had the most atypical first months of marriage as a new and young couple. They were not prepared for a situation such as this to hit them so quickly into their forever lives together.

As a family, we are asking you for help with this young couple to make sure they can truly start their life together on the right foot. They are in need of assistance for covering the costs of:
Medical charges (doctor/hospital bills, medications, colostomy equipment, cancer screenings, potential chemo radiation)
Day to day life (living expenses, groceries, etc.)
Please, help us to help them have the best chance at life they can have together. A new normal life where Cameron would be able to enjoy soccer and basketball with Melanie cheering from the sidelines, seeing new movies on a Friday night, snuggling on the couch while Cameron plays his latest video game obsession, participating in family game nights and of course catching up on their many TV series.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts from all of our families to yours.
