WHO: 4 young Black, Indigenous, and racialized womxn were fired by Equal Voice after months of working in a hostile, anti-Black, racist, and ableist environment. These young womxn have been actively working toward creating safer & equitable spaces for EV participants & other staff, and have gone through multiple forms of psychological violence & discrimination in the past few months.
You can learn more about what happened by looking up #NotSoEqualVoice on Twitter.
WHAT: These young womxn have lost their only source of income for the foreseeable future and need help with affording basic necessities such as housing, internet/phone bills, medications, and food. This has caused them a lot of mental pressure and is impacting their health and ability to seek other employment.
HOW: As their friends, we are asking our community to support us in providing financial assistance to these brilliant young women. We want to raise enough funds to financially assist them for the next two months.
They are extremely devoted & passionate individuals who actively make space for other Black, Indigenous, and racialized women and gender-diverse folks, so it is important for us to prioritize their financial sustainability as they go through unemployment.
THE GOAL: We are setting the goal at $8000 ($2000/person) to assist with the costs of rent, food, phone/internet bills, medication, and transportation.
