Nottingham Artist Fund - Light Hustle
Donation protected
The current Coronavirus situation has closed venues and forced huge cancellations of upcoming performances / exhibitions / gigs. There is catastrophic loss of income for many of the artists that contribute to sustaining Nottingham's creative sector and make our city the vibrant, colourful and creative place that it is.
Many freelancers are now in a particularly challenging time. Creatives often make their living through performance or exhibition in front of groups of people. With the ongoing disruption it is important we bear in mind that many artists are now unable to work due to the closure of pubs and music venues, galleries, bars or restaurants, theatres, television and film production and many other creative industries.
Inspired by the campaigns across the UK to support grassroots artists who may now be unable to pay rent, mortgage payments or provide for their families, Light Hustle (Circle Of Light + Hockley Hustle) have decided to create this page as a plea for help for those artists who now face a difficult few months ahead.
A gig we had planned for 4th April has now been transformed into a digital live stream festival which will feature some of Nottingham's finest talent coming together to keep the entertainment rolling and to help raise as much as possible for those in need. This is an opportunity for the city to show up and get behind Nottingham's incredible DIY creative community. Hosted by Mrs Green and featuring performances from Natalie Duncan, Nina Smith, Rob Green, Alfie Sharp, Daudi Matsiko, Mae Monypenny and many more, you are in for a treat!
We understand that many will not be able to contribute but if you can, please do. Think of it a the price of the couple of beers you would spend at the live music event, theatre trip or exhibition launch.
Inspired by other similar fundraisers (Luke Barnes Liverpool Campaign + Middle Child's Hull Campaign we are aiming to be able to provide a minimum of 50 x £100 hardship funds for any artists that cannot work during this time. If we raise more then that will also be available. The first payments will be available on May 1st.
To register for the fund or if you have any questions please email: [email redacted].uk
To watch the show on 4th April please tune in from 3pm GMT via...
