Funding a foster children support center

Foster children are typically twice harmed - once when they experience unhealthy situations in their home, and again when they are removed from their home for safety.

Nova Family Resource and Childcare Center realizes the trauma that these children experience and is creating a therapeutic childcare and resource center for children in the foster care system. Our center will staff trauma-informed childcare workers who will work hand in hand with the on-site counselor and occupational therapist to provide resources for these children and their families - both biological and foster families.

The program is at no cost to the families. These families qualify for reimbursement through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) in the State of Washington and Medicaid, which will be Nova's source of revenue.

We have invested significant funds to date. Unfortunately, the building has required major upgrades, and the permitting and inspection process has been extensive and expensive. We are looking for funding to bridge the gap so we can receive our certificate of occupancy (CO), behavioral health license, and childcare license so that we can open. We are expecting our CO in January.
