After 7 very long weeks missing in the mountain town of Conifer, Colorado, Nova was rescued! Her owner and those following Nova's story are overjoyed at Nova's rescue. After news of her rescue was posted to social media, another hiker shared his account of the rescue:
“Two people found her at the top of Meyer Ranch open space with a broken leg. One kind man carried her off a cliff top and onto stable ground. He ran down to meet animal control and park rangers while the other stayed near the dog. We were hiking by and talked to the woman waiting with the dog, now hiding in the bushes. On the trail down, we bumped into the man, park rangers, and animal control hiking back up. Presumably, the dog was carried out by this team. Such kind people to call for resources and and [sic] make sure this doggy was rescued.
Nova’s ordeal is not yet over. Her leg will need surgery and may possibly need to be amputated. Any amount you can contribute to help with Nova's medical bills is appreciated.
We are so thankful for all of those who have shared Nova's story, put up flyers, asked for updates over the last 7 weeks and worked tirelessly to bring her home.
