This weekend was the auction in Bowie, Texas. We went with no expectations but to help Oscars Place rescue donkeys and we would do what we can. Doing what we can turned into rescuing almost 50 horses and donkeys. Some needed to be humanely euthanized due to physical ailments. Some need to seek and receive minor and major vet care. Some need to gain weight. Some just need to decompress and feel safe.

We need to be as prepared for these horses as we can. Feed is not cheap. Farrier bills are not cheap. Teeth being floated is not cheap (horses need to have their hooks taken off and their teeth leveled so they can chew up their food to get the maximum amount of nutrition possible). Quarantine for the ones who are to weak to travel runs $10-$15/day per horse depending on what they need maintenance wise.

We saved them - we now HAVE to make sure that one, we do right by them care wise, but two that we do not jeopardize any of the other horses in our care.

I feel like $20,000 is a good starting point. We HAVE to make this number. Any donation from $5 to $1000 makes a difference and helps. To break it down:

If 4,000 people donate $5 - we make our goal

If 2,000 people donate $10 - we make our goal

If 1,000 people donate $20 - we make our goal

If 667 people donate $30 - we make our goal

If 200 people donate $100 - we make our goal
