Breast Cancer Sucks!
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Nikki and on Nov 20, 2023 I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer--the most common type--invasive ductal carcinoma. On December 15, I started my first of four chemo treatments and had session two on January 5. Chemo is rough but it’s the way through so it’s the road I’m on. They say there will be surgery and about 5 weeks of radiation to follow the 12 weeks of chemo. The process will take several months which seriously affects my ability to work thereby reducing my income (although I’m sticking with it for as long as and doing as much as I possibly can). Chemo treatments alone are $27,000 each and although my insurance covers a substantial amount, I am responsible for $2700 of that ($2700 X 4 = $10,800 and that's just for the chemo!). Even after exhausting all of my savings and selling what few treasures I have, I come up way short of what I must pay. I’ve already maxed out at least one credit card attempting to stay caught up and cover the medications and other costs. I’ve applied to several charities for help and was blessed to receive some help with my December bills but I’m still struggling to make ends meet. I have accrued $7,000 for medical bills in credit card debt so far in as many weeks. It’s a scary journey and a colleague suggested I start a gofundme to get some help from those who may be in a position to provide some assistance. Thank you all for reading this and for doing whatever you can to help. Getting a yearly mammogram helped me catch this at an early stage and I highly recommend you get one on a regular basis. Thank you for reading and thank you for giving whatever amount you can spare. It all adds up and it all helps out. I look forward to seeing y’all on the other side of this challenge.
