Hello, my name is Maria. I am from Norway, and I’m raising funds for Mahmoud Sehweil and his family. The Sehweil family is trapped in Gaza, currently surviving with the bare minimum of access to water, food, and medicine. They desperately need funds for their daily survival, with the hope of rebuilding their lives after the war.

We are raising funds for the following family members:

Mahmoud's mother and father
Sisters Ghada, Alaa, Nidaa, and Maryam
Brothers Mahmoud and Ezz
Nephews and nieces Muhammad (12), Dana (10), Suhaib (7), Suleiman (6), Ahmed (6), Amir (4) and Walid (3)

Mahmoud writes:

I’ve lived in the north of Gaza my whole life. It’s where I grew up, playing football in the fields and going to the beach with friends. Despite the challenges of living in Gaza, we had a loving home, and my parents worked tirelessly to provide us with a safe upbringing.

In October 2023, just as I had finished my education and was about to start my first job, the war erupted. Within the first month, our home was bombed and completely destroyed. Since then, we’ve been displaced five times.

Describing the last few months is difficult. We now sleep in a crowded room, sharing the floor space as a family. During the day, we struggle to find food, medicine, and clean water. But the nights are the worst—trying to rest in the heat, with warplanes and drones circling above, keeping us in a constant state of alarm.

We’ve witnessed indescribable horrors, with neighbours, friends and family suffering painful death and life-threatening injuries. More than anything, we worry about what the long term consequences will be for my little nieces and nephews living through this nightmare..

Our immediate priority is collecting funds to cover basic necessities: food, water, and medicine. With border crossings closed, prices have increased, especially for water.

Long-term, our hope is to raise enough funds for a safer future and to rebuild our lives.
