Empower Theresa and get her home.

Hi, my name is Colum, and i am raising funds for my cousin Theresa. Theresa is 66 years of age and has just been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Motor Neuron Disease ( MND); this is the same type of MND that Professor Stephen Hawking suffered with. This diagnosis came entirely out of the blue. It destroyed the dreams Theresa had of retiring after a long career teaching English to children in a variety of countries around the world.

This has been a terrible shock to Theresa and her close circle of family and friends. Sadly the prognosis for Theresa is 3 years life expectancy. She has spent the last 15 years teaching at an English school in Mexico and has a tiny pension but no other funds to get her home.

Theresa is much loved by the staff and pupils of the school where she works, but her prognosis means she can no longer teach, which has removed her only source of income. Her family in the UK, are doing everything they can to support and repatriate her. Theresa wants to achieve her dream of returning to the safety of the UK for her remaining years as sadly she can not get the treatment and care she so badly needs in Mexico.

Theresa can not travel alone and must be accompanied on her flight home, we will need to set her up in safe and secure accommodation in the UK while her long-term care needs are assessed. So we are raising funds initially to pay for her accompanied flights home and her care and accomodation upon arrival.
