Help My Family Survive Cancer Surgery, Chemo, Rent

Donation protected

My father is the main breadwinner in the family and now that he has to start chemo we are afraid he will never work again, with or without an oxygen machine. He is so stressed and scared. Anything you can do to help us cover rent so he can concentrate on getting better will be so appreciated, My father is part of the Peoria Tribe.

On Nov. 9th, 2020 my dad tested and was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

the first 9 days were actually okay. On the tenth day, he started to crash. His pulseoximeter read as low as the 60s while he was in the hospital.

it’s because he got pneumonia along with the Covid. I had been giving him a high dose of azithromycin before he went to the hospital and am told it probably saved hislife.

Just a few days ago, he finally got his first negative Covid test back.

the issue is his breathing. When he’s just sitting around, he’s okay. But if he tries todo anything- even go up the stairs- he is left gasping for air.

He caught Covid from a coworker, but as of 1/19 was forced to go back to work.

That’s why he desperately needs a portable oxygen machine. That he can carry around, light and easy to bring with him.

I am barely getting by as it is or I would buy this for him. His insurance will cover a third, and we are requesting the rest.

My father is the hardest working person I know. I just want to do this one thing for him, though I know he shouldn’t be working at all.

UPDATE: On May 20th, my dad informed all of us that while he was hospitalized for Covid, they found cancer in his lungs. Things are hopeful! They think they will be able to remove it. The problem is after care. My dad's work says he will have to take hospital leave, which means no incoming funds. He will also most likely be unable to work after this. It will fall on us to take care of him and the house, but any help anyone else can bring will be so helpful.

In a strange way, Covid may have saved his life. The issue now is continuing to be able to breathe (with an oxygen machine) and being able to pay for bills for the next few months. I have taken on more work, but as I said- ANYTHING you can do helps.

His surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

My dad is an angel walking the earth. I can't stand to think about him stressed out over money when he should be concentrating on getting better.

UPDATE Aug 10: He is one month post-op. He will be starting chemo in two weeks.
