Tim Spencer

Hi, my name is Bart Vogel and I'm fundraising for Tim Spencer. Tim is a longtime friend, mentor and music collaborator. We first met over 15 years ago in his guitar-teaching studio in Lodi, California. Our association soon transcended a teacher/student relationship. He has become a friend and like a brother to me in the intervening years. In November 2021 he was admitted to the hospital due to complications from Covid-19. He was placed on a ventilator, in a medically induced coma, and was kept on one through a two-and-a-half-month hospital stay. Then he was sent to a rehabilitation hospital for two-and-a-half months where the only rehabilitation that happened was the removal of the tracheostomy tube. He was released in a wheelchair, unable to speak due to damage to his vocal cords, with permanent lung damage, requiring oxygen 24/7, potentially for the rest of his life. His very long hospital stay was not entirely covered by his insurance policy. His lungs were damaged by the ventilator. His recovery has been slow, but gratefully, his speaking voice has returned enough to teach again. He is self-employed as a music teacher and semi-professional musician and has not been able to return to work due to his tethering to oxygen tanks. I'm asking for your help to get this super-talented man back to work in both arenas. The funds will be used for a Portable Oxygen Concentrator with 6-7 hours of battery and for a multitude of medical expenses not covered by insurance. Tim has been unable to work for over 15 months. Please help me in getting my friend back to work!
