Hello, my name is Melissa, im starting this fund on behalf of my very best friend since kindergarten, 
Katie (Tropp) Alexander. Recently some very trying times have hit her family and it is on my heart to do all I can to help her and her family out. Katie has been very blessed in these last couple of years, from marrying her best friend ( Garrett Alexander) to having her first baby only 2 months ago. Baby Jase, has brought so much happiness and joy not only to Katie and Garrett but to the entire family. He is so precious and an absolute blessing. Katie had a very easy and enjoyable pregnancy but soon after she found out some life changing news. Katies glands so she thought were swollen for quite some time, possibly from getting sick or she didnt really know why. She eventually went in and had them checked out. Doctors said she was okay after confirming it was her lymph nodes in her neck area. They took one biopsy and cleared her of everything, but things didnt seem to get better. Soon after having the baby she found herself back in the doctors office with a swollen neck and lymph nodes. It was then that they decided to do more testing and discovered that Katie had cancer of the Thyroid that had already spread to her lymph nodes in her neck. It was at that time that both the doctors and Katie decided they would take her thyroid out along with all the other infected lymph nodes in her neck. Katie had her surgery Feb 8th of this year. Her surgery was a long 9 hr. process. When they went in, they unexpectedly found much more cancerous findings then expected. They were able to sucessfully remove all of the infected areas. Now Katie is happily at home with her baby boy and the rest of her family. Id like to raise some funds for her and her family to help with medical bills and all else that they have had thrown their way so suddenly. This means so much to me and all involved because this family will forever be grateful and apprecitive of any help they recieve. Its hard to let loved ones and others help you in times of need, but sometimes you just have so say ...ok and welcome all the blessings everyone has to offer. Katie will overcome this, its only a speedbump in her life. With Gods love and the love of her family and friends she will conquer this disease and come out an even stronger women than she was before. I know first hand what its like to struggle with health and it can really bring you down, but with God on our side we can overcome anything.
