Aloha my dearest Ohana, friends & family near and far. It with with a heavy heart that I share this sad news with you. Hinano unexpectedly passed yesterday evening (5/31) and has left many people, including his wife Tiara, in tears. His passing has many in disbelief and heartache, including myself as it hit close to home. You see, I lost my husband David just a little over 4 months ago on January 28th. He was my world. My heart. My soul. My everything. Just as Hinano is to Tiara. I used to work with Tiara in the Call Center and while we’ve only known each other for a very short time, their aloha spirit and friendly, caring personalities is what I will forever cherish. In fact, Tiara texted me in the morning to see how I was doing. She didn’t have to but she did and it meant the world to me. Just as Hinano. He never hesitated to ask me for help after losing my husband. “Hey, I have a boat if you need one to scatter his ashes. And if you need food for his service, let us know.” His infectious smile and willingness to help people is something I know everyone would agree on. Fishing and feeding people ono kine grub was his passion and it was evident in the people who knew him and the people who patronized their shop, Kahiau Jerky Poke & Provisions. I’m sure going to miss seeing his smiling face. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to Hinano’s ohana and all who knew him!
Again, as someone who also just lost a husband, I understand the challenges and the difficulties associated with losing someone so close. I know it’s difficult to ask for help as I felt the same way. My husband’s coworkers at Costco set up a GoFundMe to which I am so blessed and grateful for. I know Tiara is feeling the same way but I want her to know that it’s okay. There’s so many people whose lives have been touch by Hinano and who would want to help. I know I do. This is me wanting to pay it forward, to assist in any way I can. I know what it’s like and to have the support, whether emotional or not is truly is comforting. To help Tiara with some of the costs, I am humbly asking for your donation. Anything will be helpful and greatly appreciated. Please feel free to comment and share something! ❤️
