NUDE Short Film Post Production

Donation protected
Hi there-

My name is Hadley Durkee- I am the Executive Producer, Writer, and Lead Actor in the short film, NUDE. NUDE is a 20-minute short film based on my experience with digital sexual abuse. When I was just 15 years old, private pictures of me were shared with the public without my consent. Just as I was coming into my own body, I lost it. My anxiety skyrocketed, my appetite disappeared, sleep became nonexistent, and going to school, knowing that so many of my classmates knew what my naked body looked like, became my worst nightmare. I blamed myself for what happened to me and lived in quiet shame. I wrote this film in 2021 to reclaim the voice that had been stolen from me. I sought to make the script deeply candid.
NUDE is the coming-of-age story of a young woman reckoning with her loss of innocence in both physical and virtual spaces after her nudes are distributed amongst classmates without her consent. It is an examination of the psychological impact digital sexual violence has on girls.
Why make this movie now? Violence against women remains extremely pervasive and starts devastatingly young. Studies show that 1 in every 3 women is a victim of sexual violence during her lifetime. With the rapid onset of social media comes even more dangers for women- especially young women. With just a click of a button, private pictures can be circulated amongst the masses. When a person is under the age of 18, this is considered child pornography. Today, digital sexual abuse can still be taboo to talk about. NUDE aims to facilitate that conversation, educate people about the devastating effects of digital sexual violence and be a healing piece of art for other victims.

Our team is currently working hard in post-production to breathe even more life and color into the film. We are currently raising more funds to support our post-production process and film festival submissions. I am looking for investors who support the film’s message, and want to be a part of the film.

Going forward, our team intends to submit NUDE to multiple film festivals. Through these film festivals, we first and foremost aim to spark conversation around digital sexual violence and create collective empathy. Secondly, we eventually plan to transform this short film into a feature-length film. If we can garner enough conversation and publicity around NUDE, and connect with fellow filmmakers and investors, we plan to make this happen in the future.
