NUHW ALOHA Strike Fund

Aloha. NUHW members in Hawaii are going on an open-ended strike on 08. 29.2022 to advocate for patient care. . The strike fund will allow NUHW members who are dedicated to providing quality mental health care to support their families while they fight for the needs of our patients and our community.

This fight is about Kaiser ignoring laws that say as a healthcare provider they are required to treat the provision of mental health and substance abuse treatment services with the same priority and resource support as medical/surgical services. A lead KP Health Plan executive has stated to staff and media that chronic and current mental health staff shortage "is not about the money. We have the money. We just can't find the workers." In actuality, despite a nationwide shortage, there are many in HI, and across the country who are available to provide needbut cannot take care of their families on pay being offered, and with KP wanting to decrease healthcare benefits.
