Nunes Family On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 31, 2023, my sister, Iara, got a call from Gabriel's work asking her to come in as soon as possible. As she arrived onsite, she found his body lying there. He had passed away that afternoon. The cause of death is still being investigated, but as one can imagine this has turned our lives upside down. Gabriel left my sister and three children, who live in the United States. However, Gabriel's mother, who is 84 years old along with his siblings all live in Brazil. While shipping the body for burial to Brazil is cost prohibitive, I would like to help her with the cremation and shipment of his ashes, so his family can have a memorial for him. If you don't know their story, they immigrated to the United States in January of 2020, after waiting 14 years for their Green Cards. They were greeted by the Covid Pandemic and found odd jobs to survive and adjust to their new home country. Gabriel was and Iara is an extremely hard worker. They both started businesses in cleaning and construction while struggling to learn the language and adapt. The American dream was just a seed at his passing.
