Local Nurse & Family's Fire Recovery Fund

Although she doesn't think so, Renatta is one of the many front line RNs, who change people's lives every day. More importantly though, she is an amazing mother, grandmother, friend, and coworker. She is always there to help, stranger or not, and give whatever she has, even if it means going without for herself. At work, she is the "go to" person for anything. What really makes her stand out, though, is she does it all with a smile on her face. She never complains, nor will you ever hear of her "hardships", which is why I'm starting this fundraiser for her.
Just like any average day off, Renatta was spending it catching up on household chores. While she was in her basement doing laundry, she started to smell smoke. When she went upstairs to look, she noticed smoke coming from one of the rooms, and as she went to look further, she saw flames in her foyer and dining room, leading to her bedroom. The fire department arrived quickly, and thankfully we're able to stop it before the entire house was gone. Unfortunately though, by the time they had arrived, her living room, dining room, bedroom, and bathroom were destroyed, taking down walls with them. We're so grateful that no one was hurt, or that her 2 year old granddaughter wasn't there, as she takes care of her most days, so that her daughter is able to go to school and be a front line caregiver as well.
I'm sure we can all imagine the expense involved in purchasing things to rebuild our lives, such as bedroom, and other furniture. The not so obvious things, though, are what is truly weighing on her. Basic necessities, such as food, clothing, toiletries, and household products, will all have to be purchased. The "little things" that are needed, such as towels for her bathroom; these are all things that add up. Because she cared for her so often, many of her granddaughter's belongings, (such as clothing), were kept at her house, and in the process, destroyed as well. Even knowing and trying to process all of this, the one thing Renatta keeps saying is, "I don't even have the things needed to go to work"! Yes, on top of all of this, she can't even go to work, because she doesn't have the necessary supplies to do so. You see, Renatta is a public health nurse, which requires her to not only have the basic nursing scrubs and stethoscope that most nurses need, but she is also required to carry things like a laptop, thermometer, BP cough, pulse ox, and the like, with her. These are things that SHE must purchase herself.
The quicker she is able to start purchasing some of these things, the quicker she'll be able to get back to doing what she loves...helping others. In the meantime, she is hopeful that she'll be able to move back in to her home as quickly as possible. Especially now more than ever, I know each one of us are experiencing some form of hardship. While I would love for you donate if you're able, I realize some of us may not be in the position to do so. If you're one of those, and would still like to help, please share this, so that others who are, can donate too. Please, let's show Renatta the same kind of support and kindness that she is always so willing to give to others. #letsshowhersomelove #nurseandfamilyfirerecoveryfund #supportanurse
